Most Rural Net installs are straightforward: a small radio dish mounted on your home, pointed at one of our towers, and a cable run inside. Here's how it works from first call to first connection.
1. CHECK COVERAGE
Enter your address in our coverage checker or call 1 (855) 557-8725. During office hours we can usually confirm coverage while you're on the phone. We look at which tower would serve you and whether there's a clear line of sight to it.
2. BOOK YOUR INSTALL
Once coverage is confirmed, most standard installs are scheduled within 24 to 48 hours (business days). We'll give you a firm date when we book. Timing can be longer in severe weather, during busy periods, or when your site needs extra work. Emergency installs are available in most areas.
3. INSTALL DAY
- A local technician mounts the radio dish on your roof, wall or an existing mast with a clear view of the tower.
- A weatherproof cable is run inside to where you want your router.
- We connect your router (routers are not included in our plans) and test your speed with a wired connection, so you can see your plan's speed is being delivered.
WHAT A FREE BASIC INSTALL COVERS
Every plan includes a free basic install: a standard mount with line of sight to the tower and a standard indoor cable run. Some sites need more, such as a taller mast, a long cable run to an outbuilding, or work around trees. If yours does, we'll explain what's needed and quote it before any work starts.
COTTAGES AND SECONDARY HOMES
About 20% of our residential customers are cottage or secondary-residence accounts. Same plans, same installation, same local support.
AFTER YOU'RE CONNECTED
Tech support is free during business hours, and emergency support is available 24/7 by phone. Most fixes happen within one business day. No term contract, and no cancellation fee if you're not happy.
